Traffic Accounting

Most commercial vessels are required to appoint an Accounting Authority (AA) for settlement of invoices
for ship-to-shore traffic via coast stations and Inmarsat Land Earth Stations (LES).

Inmarsat equipment on board, that is part of the ship's GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) configuration, must always be registered with an Accounting Authority Code (AAIC) when activated by a PSA (Point of Service Activations). This means that all Inmarsat C terminals needs to be activated with a contracted AA.  In effect, also terminals in the E & E services ( B and Fleet 33/55/77) are quite often registered with an AA.

Telemar Scandinavia controls the Accounting Authority Codes FI01, primarily used for ships under the Finnish flag, and SW01, which is approved to settle accounts for ships under the flags of:

  • Cyprus

  • Bahamas

  • Bermuda

  • Germany

  • Gibraltar

  • Latvia

  • Malta

  • Netherlands

  • Netherlands Antilles

  • Norway

  • Sweden

  • St Vincent & Grenadines

  • United Kingdom

Arrangements can be made also for other flags on request.

The AA comittment is economically far going and we normally only accept to provide the Accounting Authority services to our agreement customers.

NB! For the newer Inmarsat I-4 services like FleetBroadband, there are no restrictions in terms of permitted Accountint Authorities contra the flag state.
