The Inmarsat B and Fleet Services are still used by a large number of vessels globally. Inmarsat has announced the "end of life" date for Inmarsat B to be December 30th, 2016.
To achieve a faster migration from B and Fleet to Inmarsat FleetBroadband, there may be promotion incentives available from time to time. The promotions may be available via Telemar and the occasions will be published under the "About Us" section of this web-site.
Inmarsat B supports voice, fax, telex and circuit switched data on 9,6 kbit/s and 64 Mbit/s. Inmarsat will discontinue the operation of Inmarsat B in the end of 2016 and the remaining terminals being in operation are now being replaced with FleetBroadband.
Inmarsat Fleet is an integrated solution for voice, fax and data services. There are three versions (Fleet 33, 55 and 77) of
which the F77 provides a data throughput of up 64 or 128 kbit/s. F55 offers a maximum of 64 kbit/s and F33 9,6 kbit/s.
All three versions are equipped for Inmarsat's Mobile Packet Data Service (MPDS).
