Telemar Scandinavia - design and operation of maritime and AIS networks. Commercial provision of AIS-information
Telemar Scandinavia has been entrusted by the Swedish Maritime Administration to design, operate and maintain their maritime networks, including
- the coastal communication network
- the Swedish AIS chain
- VTS (Vessel Traffic System) surveillance centres
AIS - Automatic Identification System
The AIS system is a carriage requirement for ships on a global scale since 2002. It is primarily a ship to ship information system complementing other methods already at hand on board. AIS is an additional tool to help the ships own watch officer, who is the only one who can take action to avoid collision or other accidents.
Commercial provision of AIS-information
Continuous tracking of the vessels' positions, course and speed is of high commerical value to shipping companies, charterers and other parties.
Telemar Scandinavia has been commissioned by the Swedish Maritime Administration to manage the commerical provision of AIS information from the Swedish AIS chain.
