"Spirit of France" delivered with bridge installations by Telemar - 24th January 2012

P & O Ferries has taken delivery from STX Rauma Shipyard of their second newbuilding "Sprit of France". She is the sister of the last year delivered "Spirit of Britain" and will be set to serve the route Dover-Calais.

Together, these two vessels are the largest ones of the English channel ferries - lenght 213 m, with a capacity of 180 trailers, 195 passenger cars and 2.000 passengers. The Sperry bridge has been installed and commissioned by Telemar Oy Ab in Helsinki/Turku.

New Iridium products

The new satellite phone: Iridium Extreme or 9575 is now available from Telemar.

Iridium has for a long time offered satellite phones to those who can not rely on terrestrial mobile networks. The latest in line is Iridium Extreme, a robust satellite phone that is highly resistant to water, shock and dust. In addition to the most basic functions such as speech, text (SMS) and data, it has a built-in GPS and emergency alarm function with "SOS" button and the ability to configure the tracking service for personal safety.

There is also another important feature: the possibility to connect to the new AxcessPoint Wi-Fi hotspot module via a USB cable to communicate via satellite with a regular smartphone (only data).
Iridium also launches a Windows application called AxcessPoint Connect that allows your laptop to a Wi-Fi hotspot when connected to an Iridium satellite phone.
